Milestone Photography in Eden Prairie, Minnesota
This sweet girl is celebrating her third birthday and I got to be a part of their family’s birthday tradition.
Each year for her birthday, they don’t throw a huge birthday bash. They don’t go all out on extravagant parties or crazy gifts. They decided when their daughter was born to invest in professional photos each year to document the time. The past 3 years they have done these shoots with other photographers and they have never had a consultation before their session.
I schedule a consultation beforehand for all of my shoots, it gives us a chance to not only solidify the details of the shoot, but also allows us to get to know one another. I find that especially for milestone photography sessions or other sessions for kiddos, it is really helpful to get a feel for THEIR personality and how we can best highlight it in the shoot.
During the consultation, her parents mentioned wanting a few photos of them as a family. They also mentioned they would love to include pink flowers. I set up this little chair with flowers all around it which made for SUCH a cute setting. We had a pink number 3 balloon for another of their 3 looks. This girl was so sweet and friendly during her shoot. She was funny and smiley and so adorable.
3 Year Milestone Photography Session
Mom and Dad mentioned that they had a pretty unique experience with this shoot, especially compared to the other ones they had in the past for their sweet girl. They’d never had another photographer set up a consultation, they’d never been able to pick from the raw images, they’d never been able to choose from printed products. Her mom was very excited to see that I offered their photos as luxury heirloom products—which made ME so happy because that is really what I aim for.
I love when clients of mine choose to add on physical prints. Nothing can beat having your photos physically printed. They truly bring your photos to life in ways you can’t always get viewing on your screen, or even getting prints from other places. The quality of the prints, their colors, makes a huge difference that you completely miss out on if you opt out of adding them to your photo package.
Her mom had seen some examples of prints during the consultation and was really wowed by the quality.
They also kept talking about how much they loved the experience of the shoot! They assumed that how they have experienced professional photography is the way it is always done. I find that my clients appreciate the extra attention to detail I add to the process of each shoot. The consultation, the ability to choose the images from the raws (even just seeing them with the watermark), having options for physical products. It is so important to me to give my clients photos that are not only up to my standards, but what you like the best.

In the end, the family told me they wanted to come back every year, which just warms my heart. They were so happy to have found me and I was so happy to be able to create for them. I will always look forward to bringing families like theirs the love and care we build in to every milestone photography session.
